A relaxed family photoshoot in Peckham, South London

A newborn family photoshoot at home near Peckham Rye, South-East London

Peckham family photographer

There are many reasons why I was excited for this newborn family photoshoot in Peckham. As someone who is obsessed with interiors, I just couldn’t wait to visit this 1920s family home by Peckham Rye Park, which had been beautifully redesigned to create a calm, fun, and warm environment that is full of curves and little surprises. Peckham in particular is renowned for boasting some incredible homes, and I know the area really well, having lived right by the ‘Peckham borders’ for over seven years.

This family also recently welcomed a baby boy who seemed to be constantly brimming with smiles, especially for his big sister.

Capturing your newborn baby through the lens of a documentary family photographer is an excellent way to immortalise those initial days and weeks that often pass in a blur. One may think that because babies are not very mobile, there wouldn't be many moments worth photographing. I disagree. These moments are often found in the authentic gestures of love displayed by parents and siblings, such as a gentle hand on the head or the delicate grip of a finger.

The two-hour session was filled with activities that mirrored the family's everyday routines. From getting changed for the day to putting the baby down for a nap, we captured those authentic moments. An impromptu picnic in the garden and a cosy snuggle on the sofa also provided wonderful opportunities for natural portraits.

I hope that you will love the photos as much as I did! If you want to see more, you can check out the slideshow here.

I am a family photographer based in the Dulwich, East Dulwich, Peckham and Herne Hill areas. If you are interested in a photography session, check my sessions and pricing here, or get in touch here.
